Mary Creagh, Labour's Shadow Environment Secretary, commenting on bonuses at Thames Water, said:
"Thames' 14 million customers will find this bonus bonanza hard to swallow. People's bills have gone up by nearly seven per cent while customer satisfaction has fallen and a hosepipe ban has been in place.
"Thames Water just don't understand the pressures facing customers during this recession. This why Labour wants workers to have a place on remuneration committees to make sure company owners stay connected to reality."
