Labour press release
Kevan Jones MP, Labour’s Shadow Armed Forces Minister, in response to reports of Army 2020 and the resignations of senior military
“The Government have handled their sackings so badly they’re causing resignations.
“Ministers try to blame the previous Government and claim they’re making important reforms. The truth is that this Government’s rushed cuts and a discredited defence review mean we are losing skills and capabilities and morale is in free-fall.
"All of those who trusted David Cameron in opposition when he promised a larger Army will feel badly let down.
"The country will be worried about the military impact of these changes and will want all those made redundant to be given real opportunities for work elsewhere.”
