APPOINTMENT OF NEW PAROLE BOARD CHAIR

Kenneth Clarke, Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice has announced the appointment, for a three year period from 1 October 2012, of The Honourable Mr Justice (David) Calvert-Smith as the new Chair of the Parole Board.

The Lord Chancellor said:

"I am delighted to announce Sir Davidâs appointment as Chair of the Parole Board.Â His knowledge and experience will be invaluable in providing leadership and strategic direction to the Parole Board, so it can perform effectively its important role in assessing prisoners for possible release into the community."
