Following his meeting with the President Jeremy Browne said:
"The President of Fiji and I had a positive meeting at the Foreign Office this afternoon where we discussed the current situation in Fiji. I underlined the importance of a strong civil society and respect for human rights. We also discussed recent progress towards free and fair elections in 2014. The UK wants this process to succeed and is ready to assist in this important work along with our international partners. I look forward to working more closely with Fiji in the coming months."
