Douglas Alexander MP, Labour’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, responding to David Cameron’s comments at the European Council, said:
"David Cameron should be defending Britain's interests during the negotiations, not having to defend why Britain is relevant during a press conference.
"Sadly, David Cameron's approach to Europe is marginalising Britain's voice at exactly the time he should be advancing Britain's interests by influencing the coming changes."
