Labour press release
Caroline Flint MP, Labour’s Shadow Energy and Climate Change Secretary, responding to the Government’s failure to accept the Committee on Climate Change’s recommendation that emissions from international aviation and shipping be included in Carbon Budgets, said:
"The Government is wrong to reject the clear advice from the Committee on Climate Change to include emissions from international aviation and shipping in Carbon Budgets. Yet again, David Cameron has demonstrated that his promise to lead the greenest government ever was nothing more than cynical attempt at pretending that the Conservative Party had changed. Ministers have been dithering over this decision since April, when they first received the clear advice from the Committee on Climate Change that
this change would end uncertainty.
"If the Government is serious about meeting the targets set to cut carbon emissions, they must stop ducking these decisions."
