Labour press release
Responding to reports on the next wave of Army redundancies, Jim Murphy MP, Labour’s Shadow Defence Secretary said:
"This will worry our Forces and their families this Christmas.
"This may take place just as our Forces come back from Afghanistan and it seems that some could be sacked shortly after coming home.
"Morale is falling, skills shortages are rising and yet Ministers continue with flawed plans to reduce our capability.
"Ministers must explain the cost of these redundancies, how resettlement procedures will be improved and the military impact of losing so many high skilled individuals in such a short period."
