  • Carney: 2.5% rate 'new normal'

    A “new normal” interest rate of 2.5% could be in place by 2017, the governor of the Bank of England has indicated. Mark Carney told the Today programme that the “old normal” of 5% rates was a thing of the past, but reiterated his view that a rise from the historic low rate of of 0.5% needed to be “gradual” and “limited”....
