Conservative MP and Father of the House Sir Peter Tapsell has warned against too rapid cuts to public spending, claiming they could lead to a new economic slump. According to the Daily Mirror, Sir Peter told No10 officials that they ""must not move too rapidly or too severely in cutting back on public expenditure lest they precipitate a slump."
