A ComRes poll for the Independent on Sunday claims over half of people who voted for the Liberal Democrats in May's general election think the party "sold out" by forming a government with the Conservatives. The result of the poll was revealed on the night leader Nick Clegg addressed the "Yes! to Fairer Votes" rally at the Liberal Democrat party conference, telling members that campaigning for the alternative vote was "about real democracy" and "putting people back in charge". Also speaking at the rally were MPs Jo Swinson and Tim Farron as well as former Independent MP Martin Bell.

Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson has welcomed a campaign by Girlguiding UK to introduce a compulsory labelling system for airbrushed pictures in magazines. "We need to make girls feel confident about their own body and to help them realise that manipulated images are unrealistic and untrue," she said in a statement.

Cosmetics giant L’Oreal have been forced to withdraw two advertising campaigns after complaints from the Liberal Democrat MP Jo Swinson were upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority. Ms Swinson criticised the campaigns, featuring the actress Julia Roberts and the supermodel Christy Turlington, for being misleading as a result of extensive retouching.
