Labour MP John McDonnell has criticised the care provided in detention centres after three deaths in immigration removal centres in the last month. Police have been called in to investigate the deaths. Mr McDonnell said that the system was under such a strain that there would be "more deaths as a result".
Baroness Warsi has written to Ed Miliband accusing John McDonnell of encouraging "dangerous behaviour". Mr McDonnell has said students facing tuition fee rises have "no other alternative" to direct action. The Tory peer called his comments "reckless".
