Tory MP: Gay marriage 'a step too far'

A Conservative minister has said that Tory MPs should not be forced to support the Government's proposal to rewrite the legal definition of marriage to include same-sex couples. Gerald Howarth said that granting homosexuals the right to marriage was a matter of "conscience" and not one that party whips should attempt to control.
