Govt paves way for F1 street races

The Government has paved the way for a change in law which would allow Formula 1 races to take place on public highways in England and Wales. Roads minister Mike Penning announced in a Westminster Hall debate that the Government is launching a three-month consultation period which could bring to an end a campaign which started in 1928. The new regulations would give local authorities the power to decide whether they can host races, rather than needing to call for the Highways Act to be modified for each event.
