Work Programme launched

Work Programme launched
The Government’s Work Programme to encourage the unemployed to find work will be launched today. The Employment Minister Chris Grayling said this morning that the programme would "re-motivate the long-term unemployed" and provide people with jobs for life.

Shadow Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Liam Byrne said that he hoped the Work Programme would be successful, but that he was concerned the programme "is not big enough".

The programme allows private contractors to take on the task of finding jobs for 500,000 unemployed people annually on the basis of a payments by results system.
