Councils divert elderly care money
Care Services Miniser Paul Burstow has demanded councils explain why they have failed to pass on £2bn of Government money for elderly and disabled adults. Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, he said many local authorities had failed to act "in the best interest" of their residents. The money had not been ringfenced, and many councils have used it to fill gaps left by cuts elsewhere.
