PM hits out at union funding
Funding unions from taxpayers' money "cannot be sustained either morally or economically", David Cameron has said.
The Prime Minister has also given his backing to a new campaign group - the Trade Union Reform Campaign - which aims to highlight the amount of public money spent on funding union officials in Government departments and public bodies. The TURC will be chaired by Tory MP Aidan Burley whilst its CEO will be Mark Clarke, a former Conservative candidate for Tooting.
His comments come as teachers unhappy with proposed changes to public sector pensions are launching a "work to rule" campaign as staff insist on taking their entitlement of 10% of time out of teaching to plan lessons.
