Scottish split would 'risk euro-style crisis'
Scotland would risk collapsing into a euro-style debt crisis if it were to cut its budgetary ties with the rest of the United Kingdom, Danny Alexander has warned. In a speech to Scottish businesses in Edinburgh, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury said remaining part of the United Kingdom was "another long term anchor" for Scotland. He blamed uncertainity within the local economy on "the Scottish Government's campaign to dismantle what is the longest standing and most successful Economic and Monetary alliances in the world".
