Credit rating determined Bombardier deal
A "superior credit rating" led to the German firm Siemens beating Bombardier to a £1.4bn government contract, the Transport Select Committee has said.
The Committee's report also called for a National Audit Office review of the deal which handed the contract to Siemens, whose credit rating is A+ rather than the British Bombardier, whose rating is B++.
Committee chair Louise Ellman said: "We could not evaluate whether the decision to choose Siemens was arrived at correctly because all of the bids were and remain confidential."
