Borrowing figures down

Labour has hit out at the Government's borrowing record, with Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury Rachel Reeves saying the Coalition is set to borrow a "staggering £158bn more than planned".

The Government received a boost today by better-than-expected figures on public sector borrowing. Public sector net borrowing was £18.1bn in November, a decrease from £20.4bn 12 months ago, while the UK’s net debt was estimated at £977.1bn.
