PM pays tribute to PC David Rathband
David Cameron has paid tribute to David Rathband, the policeman shot and blinded by gunman Raoul Moat, after the officer was found dead aged 44.
The PM said: “For charities and for other injured police officers and for families who had lost police officers in the line of duty, he was a very, very brave man and I’m extremely sad about what’s happened today.”
Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said PC Rathband had shown “extraordinary bravery and determination” and said her thoughts were with his family. Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with PC Rathband's death.
