Clegg: Stop Looking Back
Nick Clegg praised Baroness Williams "work in protecting our NHS" in his opening speech to the Lib Dem spring conference.
The Deputy Prime Minister steered clear of attacking the bill, but said Shirley Williams' "outstanding work" meant Lib Dem health policy was firmly stamped on the Health and Social Care bill.
Mr Clegg is preparing to challenge his party to "stop looking back" and look forward to "the better future that we are building for our children" as the Liberal Democrat Spring Conference begins today.
Despite his optimistic tone, Mr Clegg faces a tough weekend, with a poll by LibDemVoice, released to PoliticsHome last night, showing 57% of Liberal Democrat members are opposed to the NHS Bill in its current form, although the majority say they would back it in return for fresh amendments.
