The union Unite says it has reached a basic deal with six fuel tanker firms in its continuing dispute.
The union’s members will discuss the deal next week.
Unite’s Assistant General Secretary for Transport Diana Holland said of the proposal: “As we said at the beginning when we had the result of the ballot, Unite was committed to doing all that we could to avoid a strike.”
She said Unite would consult its all-trades congress on the document which had been formulated.
