Johnson extends poll lead

Johnson extends poll lead
Boris Johnson looks likely to win a second term as Mayor of London as a new poll finds him leading Ken Livingstone by 12 points ahead of this Thursday’s election.

The Populus poll for The Times puts the incumbent on 46% in the first round of voting, with the Labour candidate on 34%, while the Green’s Jenny Jones on 6% pips Brian Paddick and Siobhan Benita to third place.

Mr Livingstone's financial arrangements have come under further scrutiny today, as the Sun claims he may have earned up to £1.2m in the last three years.

Mr Johnson said he would "fight for London".

"I will go in to fight for London’s budgets. I will, I don’t care if plaster comes off the ceiling in the Treasury provided we get the funding we need."
