Govt starts food labelling consultation
The Government is beginning a 12-week consultation with supermarkets and manufacturers on nutritional food labelling. Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said he was keen to work with the food industry to produce a "consistent" system of labelling. A report from MPs has also criticised the Government for its "failing food strategy", while the Environmental Audit Committee said intensive farming risked "damaging the environment and society".
