al-Megrahi dies
After the reported death of Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, David Cameron has said the focus should be on the 270 victims of the attack.
"Today is a day to remember the 270 people who lost their lives in what was an appalling terrorist act," he said.
The Prime Minister, speaking from the Nato summit in Chicago, reacted to his death by reaffirming his stance that al-Megrahi should never have been releases from prison in the UK.
al-Megrahi was convicted of carrying out the Lockerbie bombing in 1988, but was released by the Scottish Government on health grounds in 2009. Doctors at the time claimed he had just three months to live.
First Minister Alex Salmond said his death laid to rest "the variety of conspiracy theories that somehow this illness had been manufactured".
