NHS plans to save £1bn
The NHS is to announce a major shake-up of procurement, which is meant to save £1.2bn over four years. Health chiefs will be told to find new ways to source supplies to help to protect frontline patient services, The Times reports.

Separately, homeless people may be getting second-rate treatment from the NHS, a Government adviser has suggested.

Steve Field, head of the NHS Future Forum, told the BBC: "I think a number of doctors have attitude problems to the homeless and to gypsies and travellers."
