Labour demand vote on Hunt referral

Labour demand vote on Hunt referral
Labour will demand a Commons vote on whether Jeremy Hunt should be referred to the independent adviser on ministerial interests, Harriet Harman has revealed.

Appearing this morning on BBC News, the Opposition deputy leader said David Cameron had "torn up" the ministerial code, and added: "So what we're going to do is have a vote in the House of Commons, to ask for it to be referred to the independent investigator on the ministerial code."

Earlier Ms Harman had said it was "deplorable" for the Prime Minister to allow Mr Hunt to get away with an "open and shut resignation offence".

Conservative MP Michael Fallon has responded to Ms Harman's comments by accusing her of bias, and arguing that she "had made her mind up before she'd even seen his evidence." Mr Fallon said that Mr Hunt's evidence had shown that "the ministerial code wasn't breached".
