Around £900m of the UK's funding from the EU Regional Development Fund has not been spent and may go to waste, Shadow Europe Minister Emma Reynolds has said. The money, set aside for investment in UK firms, will be lost if unclaimed by the end of next year. Ms Reynolds said the failure to spend the money was "a wasted opportunity". A source in the Department of Communities and Local Government told the Daily Mirror that the funding was 'on track'.
