Tories back Cam on EU
A survey by ConservativeHome has found that Conservative party activists narrowly support David Cameron’s position on Europe. However, the poll revealed supporters doubt his eurosceptic convictions and approach. Four out of ten respondents indicated they wanted Britain to leave the EU as soon as possible. The majority believed relations with the EU could change for the better. At the Liaison Committee yesterday, the Prime Minister said the “exact” status quo was unacceptable and there would be “opportunities" to change it. He also announced the Government could restrict the number of people immigrating to the UK from Greece and other struggling eurozone countries.
