Benefit cap 'success'
Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith has branded his cap on benefits a success eight months ahead of its implementation.

Figures have revealed more than 1,700 families, who were set to lose out as a result of the annual £26,000 cap, have entered the jobs market and stopped their benefit claims. An additional 5,000 people have enrolled on intensive job search programmes.

The cap on benefits is planned for April 2013.
