Immigration amnesty rejected
Downing Street has ruled out an amnesty for illegal immigrants and failed asylum-seekers in Britain. Boris Johnson had previously supported the amnesty, after it emerged that the UK Border Agency has a backlog of over 275,000 cases, but David Cameron’s spokesman said it “is not something we are considering". A report by Migration Watch estimates 60,000 bogus students could have entered Britain last year, and argues the Government has “lost its nerve” because it did not force students to return home after their course.
