EU should cut emissions further - Yeo
The European Union should maintain its political leadership by increasing it's emission cutting targets, according to the Commons Energy and Climate Change Committee. Chairman Tim Yeo said the current target, of cutting 20% from 1990 levels by 2020 'is no longer sufficiently ambitious or challenging, and will be easily reached because of the recession', and should be increased to 30%. But the committee was also criticised for referring to the new UN emissions deal, the Durban Platform, as voluntary.
