Two in three support GM crop testing
A ComRes survey for the Independent has discovered that 64% of the public agree that the Government should encourage experiments on GM crops. The results showed that more men than women agree with the experiments, which would reduce the amount of pesticides farmers need to use on their crops. At present no GM crops are grown to sell in Britain, but many supporters believe that they could be the solution to food shortages and rising prices in the future.
