Strike action at all-time low
Industrial action in the UK has hit an all-time low, according to new figures released by the Office for National Statistics. A total of 365,300 working days were lost in 2010, down from an average of 12.9m days lost through strikes every year in the 1970s. Redundancies were the biggest cause of industrial action, leading to 312,000 lost days, while just 43,000 days were lost in disputes over pay.
