Former World Bank adviser Professor Gordon Hughes has claimed unless the Government scales back its commitment to wind power “very substantially, its policy will be worse than a mistake, it will be a blunder.” Mr Hughes warned energy bills could rise by more than £300 a year to fund wind power technology. The professor of economics described wind power as an “extraordinarily expensive and inefficient way of reducing CO2 emissions” despite Lord Lawson’s Global Warming Policy Foundation and Government committed to wind power to reduce carbon emissions.
