Fall in mental health spending

Fall in mental health spending
Andy Burnham has accused the Coalition of breaking its promise on mental health services, as a new report reveals spending has fallen for the first time in a decade.

The Department of Health report shows total spending has dropped by £150m, despite a pledge from ministers to give mental health a "parity of esteem" with physical health.

The Shadow Health Secretary said "Ministers need to start putting their money where their mouth is. They must urgently send the clearest of signals to the NHS that mental health is a spending priority."
