US steps up refugee aid
The US has pledged an additional $5m to help with the humanitarian crisis caused by Syrian refugees fleeing the violence in the country.
After talks in Istanbul, Hillary Clinton also revealed there would be a working group set up with Turkey to respond to the crisis in Syrian and “hasten the end of the violence”.
The Secretary of State's visit comes as Washington announced new sanctions targeting the Syrian state oil company's dealings with Iran, in a bid to starve the regimes in both Tehran and Damascus of revenue.
Arab foreign ministers will hold a meeting on the issue in Saudi Arabia tomorrow, according to Egyptian state TV.
