Brown links Games to Scottish independence
The SNP has criticised Gordon Brown after the former prime minister invoked Britain's Olympic success as an argument against Scottish independence.
Speaking at the Edinburgh international book festival, Mr Brown said Team GB's medal success was based on the "pooling and sharing" of national resources and expertise.
A spokesperson for Scottish Finance Secretary John Swinney said: "Scotland is better off than the UK as a whole, and therefore Gordon Brown is wrong on tax and spending, and wrong about fiscal autonomy and independence."
