Umunna challenges PM on Sunday trading
Shadow business secretary Chuka Umunna has written to the Prime Minister to seek clarification on the prospect of a relaxation of Sunday trading laws.
Mr Umunna expresses concern at senior ministers' recent hints that Sunday trading hours, which have been increased for the duration of the Olympics and Paralympics, could be permanently extended in the future.
The shadow business secretary's letter criticises Communities Secretary Eric Pickles, who suggested that the Government was considering a permanent extension.
He argues Mr Pickles' comments represent a "clear breach" of the assurance that temporary legislation for the Olympics would not be used as a "Trojan horse" for future extensions.
