'Political correctness' stopping witchcraft investigations

Witchcraft crimes are not investigated properly because authorities are too "cowed" by political correctness, a minister said yesterday.

Tory PPS Tim Loughton said there was a "wall of silence" around the issue.

He added: "Community leaders have been reluctant to challenge beliefs which risk leading to real abuse in their midst, or because authorities misunderstand the causes or are cowed by political correctness."
