Hunt pledges fastest broadband in Europe
The UK will have the fastest broadband network in Europe by 2015, Jeremy Hunt has pledged today. In a speech at the Google Campus in East London, the Culture Secretary set out his ambition to have high speed broadband in at least 90% of the country.
But Labour hit back, arguing the Government’s plan lacked coherence. Shadow Culture minister Helen Goodman said: “Today was a chance for Jeremy Hunt to articulate a coherent vision of what Britain’s broadband infrastructure should look like. He boldly declared that Britain will have the fastest broadband network in Europe but then offered no plan as to how he will make this happen.”
