Govt unveils 'Stoptober'

Govt unveils 'Stoptober'
The Department of Health has announced a new campaign to help Britain's eight million smokers to break their addiction.

Nicknamed 'Stoptober', the campaign challenges smokers to stop for 28 days starting October 1. It is the first government-led 'mass quit attempt'.

Health Minister, Norman Lamb has expressed his support for the campaign saying, "These campaigns can be make a difference and when people have heard messages about the dangers of smoking, they are more likely to give up as a result of that.

"I think it’s really exciting and we know that if you can keep going for 28 days then you’re five times more likely to be able to give it up for good and we know also that two thirds of smokers want to give up."
