Bus competition not working - MPs
Competition in bus services has "not convinced" MPs on the Transport Committee, who are calling for greater partnership between local councils and large operators. The Committee said quality of service was too variable and that bus firms should show more "leadership" by partnering with councils. "While some services are good, too often passengers are dissatisfied with the reliability of the service, the level of fares and the need to buy another ticket if the trip involves two bus companies," Louise Ellman, the committee's Labour chair said.
