Davey attacks 'negative' Tories
A senior Liberal Democrat has hit out at the Tories for their "very negative" attitude to poor people and criminals.
Energy Secretary Ed Davey said this afternoon he also found the "authoritarian tendencies" of his Coalition partners "very, very difficult".
"They do have authoritarian tendencies,I find that very, very difficult and their very negative approach to how to deal with people who are less well-off in society, those who fall on hard times, people who break the law," Mr Davey told a fringe event hosted by thinktank Demos.
"We have to have a more optimistic outlook on humanity and I think its quite difficult as a liberal in the Tory party to have that, given the views of some of their colleagues."
