Former Sun and News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks will face a trial in September 2013, it was announced today.

She will be due in court alongside No.10's former director of communications Andy Coulson and other journalists accused in the hacking scandal, the Old Bailey ruled this morning.

Yesterday News International lawyers sought to limit its payouts to victims of phone hacking, arguing it the company should not have to pay "exemplary damages" beyond normal compensation.
