Gove withdraws FOI appeal
Michael Gove is withdrawing his appeal against a ruling that emails from a private account, sent between himself and his advisers, are subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
The Education Secretary had appealed the Information Commissioner’s decision that FOI laws should apply because the emails dealt with government business.
But in a letter to the Information Commissioner, the Department for Education said it can “no longer justify the expenditure of further resources” on the appeal after advice from the Cabinet Office.
