Ed M in fairness drive
Ed Miliband has pledged to rebuild a fairer Britain, saying he will put "working people" ahead of "tax cuts for millionaires".

The Labour leader highlighted policies for fairer energy bills and pension charges in Q&A session on the eve of his party's conference in Manchester.

"If it is a Labour government we will have to make difficult decisions - we will not be able to reverse all the cuts," he said. "We would always put the interests of millions of working people ahead of tax cuts for millionaires."

Mr Miliband told the invited audience that the announced policies were "just a downpayment on what the next Labour government needs to do" and warned that living standards could fall for a decade or more if something was not done.

Mr Miliband said his number one priority was to "get young people back to work", suggesting that this would be “absolutely doable”.
