A 75% "supertax" band that will hit the rich will help French President Francois Hollande make nearly €40bn budget savings.
Mr Hollande has announced a budget that he says is France's "harshest" in 30 years. The socialist leader chose to make more of the savings by tax rises rather than spending cuts, compared to budget plans in other countries.
