Balls dismisses Lib Dem criticism
Ed Balls has brushed off reports that the Lib Dems might only be willing to form a coalition with Labour after 2015 if he was not Chancellor.
Amid growing divisions within the Labour party about how to handle the Liberal Democrats, Mr Balls said he was pleased the Lib Dems were hostile towards him.
“Nick Clegg and David Laws don’t want to work with Ed Balls in a government… I can’t think of a better endorsement," he told the Today programme.
It comes after a new group within Labour to promote pluralism in the party was set up by John Denham. Yesterday, Ed Miliband said the Lib Dems were an "accomplice" to the Conservatives but, according to the Independent, one Labour aide said Mr Miliband, "is a pluralist; he doesn't believe that wisdom resides in one party".
