Balls promises no rivalry repeat
Ed Balls has insisted there is "absolutely no possibility" of a repeat of the Blair-Brown wars with between himself and Ed Miliband.
Speaking at a Labour conference fringe event in Manchester Town Hall, the Shadow Chancellor attempted to brush off claims about the pair not getting along, saying he was happy to be the junior partner.
"He's my friend and we've been friends for 20 years... He's the leader, and so I'm the junior - and that's fine," he said.
Mr Balls added: "One of the realities of politics is that at certain times certain prisms take hold. And the Blair/Brown prism was a powerful prism in British politics in the last 10 to 15 years... But Ed and I lived through the Brown and Blair years and we learned the right lessons from those really, and there is absolutely no possibility of a repeat of that.”
